Townends giving training and job opportunities to young people

In a time of economic hardship and with a distinct lack of job opportunities for young people local firm, Townends, has given people in the Yorkshire area hope for bright futures with job opportunities and training towards professional qualifications.
Townends was established over 100 years ago as a small rural practice of Chartered Accountants. Since then the firm has grown to what it is today and is now one of the largest accountancy practices in the area with offices in Goole, Pontefract, York and Selby. Townends help businesses grow through strategic advice and premium accounting services.
“Having worked for Townends for five years, they have supported me through qualifications including AAT, ATT and now ACA. By engaging me in real life situations within my employment it helped ensure I covered every aspect of accountancy to succeed in my career.” Quote from Hayley Hudson, Trainee Accountant.
All Trainees begin their studies with the AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) qualification before moving on to study for professional internationally recognised qualifications, whilst also gaining practical experience in their day job at Townends.
“We are committed to delivering a first class service to our clients. In order to achieve this, we ensure our staff have the right qualifications, skills and attributes. We have strong links to local schools and colleges and our structured training programme provides support to our staff to develop professionally while studying towards qualifications.” Quote from Lesley Strangward, Human Resources Manager.
