An associate at Townends Chartered Accountants has recently celebrated 25 years working in the firm.
Ian Taylor joined the firm on October 1 1990, and now heads up the Administration & Finance Department within Townends which also includes the internal IT requirements of the business.
He noted that the biggest change he has experienced in his role over this time is changing technology. Mr Taylor said: “From storing records to the day-to-day running of the business and the way we process clients’ information, technology is by far the thing that has changed the most”. Mr Taylor also said he has found client’s expectations of the services the firm provides is also different now to when he joined the firm.
“Back then services centred mainly around accounts and audit work together with associated tax compliance, whereas now clients expect so much more in terms of personal and business advice.
“The firm is a trusted advisor and is many clients’ first port of call if they need help with anything.”
Townends was founded around 1895, and has grown from a small rural practice to one of the largest independent practices in the area. The firm has offices in Goole, Pontefract, York and Selby, and has recently started a joint venture within their York office providing specialist accountancy services to dental practices.
